Brief outline of training

The Operate a hydro excavation skill set is design for participants who only complete hydro excavation (Non Destructive Digging | NDD) using a Class B gun/lance in association with a vacuum loading system. This course covers everything from equipment (high pressure pumps and vacuum loading systems), how to operate the equipment safely, the associated dangers, safe work practices and associated law, work permits and emergency response practices. This course will not give the students the skills or experience to use a gun/lance for any other purpose than NDD. It will not give the skills to complete washdowns, surface preparation, demolition, or any other high pressure water jetting task. Also, this course will not provide the students with the skills and/or experience to undertake any other vacuum loading operations apart from hydro excavation (Non Destructive Digging | NDD).

This course is delivered in accordance with the AS4233.1 2013 Part 1 High Pressure Water Jetting Systems Safe Operation and Maintenance, AS4233.2 2013 Part 2 High Pressure Water Jetting Systems Construction and Performance, WSA 02 2014 Third Edition V3.1 Gravity Sewerage Code of Australia, SafeWork NSW – Guide for managing Risks from High Pressure Water Jetting, and COP Work Near Underground Assets.
